L’Épreuve — Une histoire de rêves olympiques
Behind every Olympic dream are the people who live the same ordeal from a distance.
Synopsis
Audrey Werro, Alanis Siffert, Madeline Coquoz and Robin Godel are four young athletes from Fribourg pursuing the same goal: qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The film follows their journey and the families beside them, sharing the doubt, sacrifice, distance and uncertainty behind every Olympic dream.
The edge
By shifting the point of view toward those who wait at home, L’Épreuve looks beyond the conventional story of elite performance. Each athlete records a personal video diary for their loved ones, while intimate interviews reveal the unseen emotional work of families. The film makes love, trust and support as central to performance as training itself.
Diffusion
The film premiered in Fribourg in April 2024 before a run of regional cinema screenings. Ahead of Paris 2024, it was also made available to schools through the State of Fribourg’s “Paris bouge” programme, extending its themes of perseverance and support to younger audiences.
